Our content is research based, not test based

This is the most important thing on this page, so it comes first. Quench Nest does not test products hands on. We do not operate a test kitchen or a laboratory, we do not measure ice retention ourselves, and we do not claim personal ownership of the products we write about.

Our conclusions are built from three sources: manufacturer specifications, published product manuals and documentation, and verified owner reviews. We synthesise those, look for patterns across large numbers of reports, and tell you what the evidence supports.

Specifications and figures

Capacity, ice retention, heat retention, output in pounds per twenty four hours, weight, dimensions and power draw are reported as published by the manufacturer, or as reported by owners, and are labelled accordingly on the page.

Manufacturer figures are typically measured in ideal laboratory conditions that your kitchen, car boot or beach will not reproduce. A cooler rated for seven days of ice retention was not tested in direct sunlight with the lid opening every ten minutes. Treat published figures as a ceiling and a basis for comparison, not a promise.

Accuracy, currency and availability

Products get revised without model number changes, specifications are edited quietly, and models are discontinued without notice. We update pages as we find changes, but we cannot guarantee that every figure on this site is complete, current or free of error at the moment you read it.

Prices and availability shown by any retailer we link to are set by that retailer and can change at any time. Always confirm the specification, the price and the current model on the retailer or manufacturer page before you buy.
