Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how to make us stop.

Last updated: August 23, 2026

This policy explains what information Quench Nest collects when you visit https://quenchnest.com, why we collect it, who else can see it, and what control you have over it.

Who we are

Quench Nest operates the website at https://quenchnest.com. In data protection terms we are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us about anything on this page at hello@quenchnest.com.

Information you give us directly

The only information we ask you for is what you choose to send us.

  • Email correspondence. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever is in your message. We keep the thread so we can follow up.
  • Comments. Where commenting is enabled on a post, submitting a comment stores the name, email address and website you enter, the comment text, and your IP address and browser user agent string. This is standard WordPress behaviour and helps with spam detection.

We do not operate a newsletter, so we do not build or hold a mailing list.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, some information is collected by the technology that serves the pages.

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records IP addresses, request times, pages requested, referring pages, browser and device type, and error responses. These logs support security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.
  • Analytics data. We use analytics to understand which pages are read, how visitors arrive, roughly where in the world they are, and what device they use. This is reported to us in aggregate.
  • Affiliate tracking. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer sets identifiers that let it attribute a resulting purchase to this site.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Described in detail in our Cookie Policy.

How we use this information

  • To deliver the website and keep it working correctly.
  • To reply to your emails and comments.
  • To understand which content is useful so we can improve and update it.
  • To detect, prevent and investigate spam, abuse, scraping and security incidents.
  • To receive affiliate commission attribution from retail partners.
  • To comply with legal obligations and to establish or defend legal claims.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with data brokers. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not run our own advertising network.

Third party services we rely on

Some parts of this site depend on services run by other companies. When you use the site, those companies may receive data directly from your browser, and their own privacy policies govern what they do with it.

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC), for aggregate audience measurement.
  • Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate networks, for link attribution and commission tracking.
  • Web hosting and content delivery providers, which process requests and hold server logs.
  • Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces used across the site.
  • Spam filtering, where comments are enabled, to screen submissions.

We choose services that are widely used and documented, but we cannot control what they do with data once it reaches them. Please read their policies if that matters to you.

Legal bases for processing

If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or another region with similar law, we process personal information on these bases.

  • Consent, for non essential cookies and analytics where consent is required, and for any optional information you volunteer.
  • Legitimate interests, for site security, abuse prevention, aggregate audience measurement and running a sustainable publication.
  • Legal obligation, where we must retain or disclose information to comply with the law.

How long we keep information

  • Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the matter and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference.
  • Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely while published, so follow up replies make sense in context.
  • Server logs are retained on a short rolling window set by our hosting provider, typically weeks rather than years.
  • Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings of the analytics provider.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over personal information we hold about you.

  • Ask what we hold and request a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete information, subject to any legal obligation to keep it.
  • Ask us to restrict or object to particular processing.
  • Ask for a portable copy of information you provided to us.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
  • Complain to your local data protection authority.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, California residents additionally have the right to know what categories of personal information are collected and disclosed, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@quenchnest.com. We may need to ask you a question or two to confirm the request genuinely comes from you before we act on it.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email hello@quenchnest.com and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our hosting, analytics and affiliate partners operate globally, so information may be processed in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, such as standard contractual clauses or an approved transfer framework.

Security

We serve the site over HTTPS, keep software updated and limit who can access the systems behind it. No website can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise. Please do not send sensitive personal details, financial information or identification documents by email.

Links to other websites

This site links out to retailers, manufacturers and reference sources. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s website, governed by their privacy policy and cookie practices. We have no control over those sites and are not responsible for them.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browsers vary in how they signal tracking preferences and there is still no single agreed standard. Where we are able to detect and honour a recognised opt out signal such as Global Privacy Control, we treat it as a valid request to limit non essential processing.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices or the services we use change. The date at the top of the page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
